Shenzhen Airlines will open a route between Shenzhen and Barcelona, Spain starting from Aug. 28, marking the first intercontinental route to be launched at Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport this year.
The new route will operate twice a week, with flights scheduled on Mondays and Fridays.
The outbound flight, ZH9065, will depart from Shenzhen at 12:05 a.m. and arrive in Barcelona at 8:05 a.m. local time. The return flight, ZH9066, will depart from Barcelona at 11:30 a.m. and arrive in Shenzhen at 7 a.m. the following day, according to sources from the airline.
The relationship between Shenzhen and Barcelona was elevated from a friendly exchange city status to sister city relations in 2021. The launch of the new air route will further strengthen the cooperation between the two cities in various domains, including smart city initiatives, sci-tech innovation, creative culture, tourism, and trade.
In another development, Donghai Airlines has opened a direct flight from Shenzhen to Hailar. Flights from Shenzhen to Hailar depart at 6:40 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, and depart at 6:25 a.m. every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Starting from Wednesday, Donghai Airlines will open a route between Zhengzhou and Hailar to meet the summer holiday travel demand.
Shenzhen-based Donghai Airlines, established in 2002, is the only private passenger airline in Shenzhen. It now operates nearly 60 domestic routes and seven international routes.
