The Sub-forum on Innovative International Communication in the Age of New Media, one of the eight sub-forums of the first Forum on Building up China’s Cultural Strength, was held Thursday at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center in Bao’an District.
Professionals and renowned experts from State media organizations, national high-end think tanks, provincial and municipal publicity departments, universities and the new media industry gathered at the sub-forum to discuss innovative practices in international communication, integrated media development, and ways to enhance the capacity for engaging in international communication.
The sub-forum featured four discussion panels, each focusing on a different topic.
Wang Gang, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said in an opening speech at the sub-forum that it is important to embrace new technologies, conduct forward-looking studies, and utilize technologies to empower international communication.
Wang also stressed the need to trust and empower young people, encouraging them to become the main force in disseminating China’s stories to the world.
The sub-forum was guided by the International Liaison Bureau of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, hosted by Xinhua Institute and organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee.
In the other seven sub-forums Thursday, experts were invited to discuss literary and artistic creation, the development and application of cutting-edge digital publishing technologies, the high-quality development of the film industry, cultural heritage protection, building a culturally rich Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, promoting cultural trade, and the new copyright ecology on the internet.
