The Metro Line 14, which marks the first Metro line connecting Pingshan District, is planned to open in October following the completion of its no-load trial operation Friday, according to Shenzhen Metro Group.

Metro Line 14, spanning 50.3 kilometers long, starts from Gangxia North Station and extends to Shatian Station. The line has 18 stations and runs through Futian, Luohu, Longgang and Pingshan districts, which will greatly improve the travel efficiency of local residents.

The no-load trial operation of Metro Line 11’s Futian to Gangxia North section, running 1.6 kilometers long, was also completed Friday.

After the opening of the Metro line and section, the city’s Metro line network will have three additional interchanges namely Gangxia North, Universiade and Huangmugang stations.

Gangxia North Station is a four-line interchange station, connecting lines 2, 10, 11 and 14. Huangmugang Station connects lines 7 and 14, and Universiade Station connects lines 3 and 14. In addition, Buji Station, another existing interchange, will connect lines 3, 5 and 14.

After Line 14’s 30-day no-load trial, as well as Line 11’s Futian to Gangxia North section, an expert review and test drive will be required for the operation. The initial operation will be carried out as planned after all operation indicators are up to standard.

Shenzhen Metro has announced the one-way ticket prices of its new lines. According to calculations, regular fare for lines 11 and 14 (including new line section) is 2-10 yuan (US$0.28-1.4).

In another development, the city will open three holiday bus routes to Maluan Mountain Country Park in Pingshan starting Oct. 1.

Bus route 1, the holiday bus, will run between Shenzhen Railway Station in Luohu and Maluan Primary School. Route 2 will run between Futian Station and Maluan Primary School, and Route 3 will run between Maluan Mountain Country Park and Fuping Bus Terminal Station.

The three holiday bus routes will adjust service hours and shifts according to passenger flow during holidays.
