An information session on tax and financial subsidies for foreign talents was held at Bao’an District International Talent Service Station in Bao’an Talent Park on Friday, which marked the station’s first activity since it was launched Nov. 19.

The service station provides expats services for individual income tax refund, foreigners’ work permits handling, and exit and entry policies consultation.

At Friday’s event, the district’s industry and information technology bureau officials introduced Bao’an’s foreign-related industrial policies, financial programs and enterprise service measures. Local human resource bureau representatives answered questions regarding tax and financial subsidies for high-end and urgently needed overseas talents in Shenzhen and gave international talents guidance on how to use the district’s resources to develop their careers.

Many foreign attendees expressed their love for Bao’an after learning about its policies. One of them was a French businessman who came to the district in 2006. The French businessman, who declined to be named, founded a medical instruments company in Bao’an. During the pandemic in 2020, the firm gained substantial support from the local government and promptly resumed the production of respirators to meet export demand.

“We have plans for further expansion. I believe our future in Bao’an will get better and better,” the Frenchman said.

Statistics showed that Bao’an currently has 2,322 expats with working permits, ranking third in the city. The majority of them are aged between 35 and 50.

Bao’an has established an International Talents Harbor in the Guangdong-Hong Kong- Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) in Bao’an Talent Park. The talents service center consists of the above-mentioned service station, a Hong Kong-Macao Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base and an Entrepreneurship Center for Returned International Talents, aiming to set up a comprehensive service platform for GBA international talents.

The entrepreneurship base provides returnee entrepreneurial teams free shared office space for six months, entrepreneurial training, and policies and regulations consultation.
