To build an international talent community, Xiangmihu Subdistrict carries out a series of key tasks by relying on the community Party-masses service center, benchmarking advanced concepts and following the five-dimension integration requirements of “political guidance, intimate services, community integration, career achievement and international endorsement.”
Xiangmihu Subdistrict reaches Xiangmei Road in the east, Qiaocheng Road East in the west, Shennan Boulevard in the south and Beihuan Boulevard in the north. It covers an area of 9.57 square kilometers with a population of about 216,000 including 1,422 expats who are registered as residents, among whom 533 are South Koreans, boasting the highest proportion.
Since 2011, Xiangmihu Subdistrict has been committed to building an international talent block. In 2014, the Donghai Community of Xiangmihu Subdistrict became one of the first pilot international communities in Shenzhen. In 2019, Xiangmihu Subdistrict was titled as one of the first pilot international communities in Shenzhen, and this year it is recognized as one of the city’s pilot international talent communities.
Regarding hardware, Xiangmihu Subdistrict is going to promote the intelligent development of the international block and comprehensively deepen its overall planning by creating an international cultural recreation space featuring “two halls and two circles.” In terms of software, Xiangmihu Subdistrict plans to comprehensively improve the internationalization level of public services and further promote its community integration. In the future, with the complexes like the Shenzhen International Exchange Center and the Shenzhen Financial and Cultural Center being built, the Xiangmihu Subdistrict International Community Service Center will be established. The service center will provide one-stop services for expats, including diversified public services concerning temporary residence permits, visa, dispute mediation, driver’s licenses, etc. Also, it will carry out various international cultural exchange activities to strengthen the sense of identity, belonging and happiness of the international talents.
