Dapeng Peninsula lies to the east of Longgang District and to the north-east of Hong Kong. Dapeng Peninsula consists of the subdistricts including Kuichong, Dapeng and Nan'ao. To the southwest of the peninsula is Mirs Bay and to the northeast is Daya Bay. The Dapeng dialect is the main dialect across the whole peninsula. Since the end of the Ming dynasty Dapeng has the Dapeng Fortress (Dapengcheng) to protect the inhabitants from attacks by pirates.


Dapeng New District’s vision is to build itself into an economically strong district based upon ecological strength by seizing the historical opportunities brought by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area and Shenzhen’s status as a demonstration area of socialism with Chinese characteristics.


By 2025, Dapeng’s focus will have shifted totourism, biology and marine industries in its bid to build itself into a global marine hub district and a coastal ecological tourism resort.


By 2025, Dapeng will have become a national leader in ecological civilization construction and will have reached the international first-class level of development. The urban areas in the New District will have undergone major facelifts. 


A rational layout of ecological space, a beautiful ecological environment, a developed ecological economy, an excellent ecological habitat, and an ecological culture popularization of a beautiful China benchmark model will have taken shape.


By 2025, Dapeng will have built a comprehensive seaward development pattern and started the formation of a new industrial base.


By 2025, Dapeng will have become a national-level cultural and ecological protection area.


By 2025, the Dapeng life and health brand featuring cutting-edge technology, health care, cultural, sports and tourism integration will be basically formed.


By 2025, Dapeng will have raised itself to a new level of excellence in the fields of life and health science and 

innovation.


By 2025, a land, sea and air rail transportation system will have been initiated; livelihood protection and social governance level will be steadily improved.
