Yandunshan International Friendship Park is located at the estuary of Yantian River and the south side of the typhoon shelter, with an area of about 56,000 square meters. The hill, well covered with vegetation, is suitable as a habitat and reproduction site for birds. In order to protect the natural environment, meet the leisure requirements of the local residents, and accelerate the pace of constructing the international urban area, Yantian District has initiated the construction of Yandunshan International Friendship Park featuring ecological friendliness and international friendship while incorporating elements such as popular science education, aiming to build it into a first-class international park. The park is divided into three themed zones: Eco-friendliness, International Friendship, and Peace and Friendship. The characteristics of each zone are represented by remodeled or newly built structures. Additionally, the hiking trails and coastal trails are also built to be part of an organic whole.

The park was named to mark the establishment of friendship city relationship between Yantian District and the city of La Coruna in Spain, and the International Friendship Zone was also inspired by the elements of the history, culture and arts of La Coruna.

A landscape wall and a rock garden are built in the International Friendship Square to display the history of La Coruna and its rocky landscape. The Hercules Tower in La Coruna is also taken as a prototype, and is built on a smaller scale in the International Friendship Garden as a witness to the friendship between China and Spain.
