Sanitation index hits record high

Shenzhen's environmental sanitation index score in August was 88.98, up 0.31 points from the previous month, hitting a new record high this year, according to the index report released by the Shenzhen Municipal Urban Administration and Law Enforcement Bureau yesterday.


Meanwhile, the on-site examination and resident satisfaction indices scored 89.93 and 80.42, respectively.


Futian District once again took the top spot in August’s ranking, marking its eighth consecutive time to take the lead. Yantian and Guangming districts ranked second and third, respectively, while Bao’an, Longgang and Luohu districts were at the bottom of the list.


In terms of subdistricts, Fubao, Xiangmihu and Meisha subdistricts took the top three spots, according to the report.


Although the city achieved a great result in environmental sanitation index in August, its urban villages fell behind its performance in July. Urban villages scored 85.14 points in August, 0.66 points lower than in July.


The city’s urban administration bureau also issued a toilet environment index on the same day, which shows the city’s public toilet environment index in August was 93.07 points, up 1.01 points from the previous month.


Metro stations, parks and the airport took the top three spots in the toilet environment index ranking. However, the city’s train stations and checkpoints slipped in their toilet environment scores in August, according to the report.
