A maritime silk road international port chain with Qianhai as its hub will be built, audiences were told at the launch ceremony of the construction of the Belt and Road (B&R) Combined Trade Hub Port on Tuesday.
Currently, Qianhai is planning the construction of Qianhai Hub Port, a Shenzhen-Hong Kong combined port, a Greater Bay Area port cluster and an international port chain with the aim of consolidating Hong Kong’s role as an international trade center and shipping center, enhancing Shenzhen’s integrated service functions for international trade and shipping, and promoting the international level of trade and shipping services in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).
Huang Xiaopeng, executive deputy director of Qianhai authority, said at the ceremony that Qianhai will take the combo hub port construction as an opportunity to continue strengthening cooperation with domestic and foreign partners and sister industrial parks, enhancing Qianhai’s functions as an opening-up portal, and providing better services for the vast number of enterprises and institutions engaging in import and export, supply chain management, shipping services and so on.
Lam Kin-ngok, president of Hong Kong Trade Development Council, said planning and combining Qianhai and Hong Kong free trade ports have played an important role in serving and connecting “Belt and Road” countries. He expected that Qianhai will continue to improve its business environment to attract more “Belt and Road” enterprises to settle in Qianhai and the GBA.
So far this year, Qianhai has joined hands with China Merchants Group and Shenzhen Customs to open two routes of the Shekou-Shunde New Port Combo Port and the Shekou-Shunde Beijiao Combined Port.
In the future, Qianhai will cooperate with Shenzhen and Hong Kong customs to further streamline customs declaration procedures, and optimize goods inspection and customs clearance efficiency.
