Shekou Museum of China's Reform and Opening-up 中国改革开放蛇口博物馆
The Shekou Museum of China’s Reform and Opening-up is the first history museum dedicated to telling the story of the past 40 years of reform and opening up that have taken place in China, reopened to the public last week. Entry is free.
Sponsored by China Merchants Group and built by China Merchants Shekou, the museum serves as a platform to help people better understand the Shekou Industrial Zone and the history of reform and opening up through exhibits, historical representations and interactive experiences.
Since July 2016, the project organizers have been collecting objects related to the reform and opening up in China, such as a ship ticket between Shekou and Hong Kong, a Donald Duck cloth toy once owned by a migrant worker and library cards belonging to workers.
The museum, on the third floor of the Sea World Culture and Arts Center, opened in December last year and more than 80,000 people have visited it.
In addition to precious historical files, objects and photos, the museum recently created a model of Shekou’s float that participated in the 1984 National Day parade in Beijing, with the widespread slogan of China’s economic reform, “Time Is Money, Efficiency Is Life,” emblazoned on the float. The museum also shows a video titled “From Sea World to Belt and Road” on a circular screen, displaying Shekou as the cradle of the country’s industrial boom and a test tube for change.
The museum will hold public events in the future, such as recruiting student tour guides and organizing lectures.

History Museum of Chung Ying Street 中英街历史博物馆
Completed and opened in May 1999, located at Sha Tau Kok of Yantian District with a total building area of 1,688 square meters, History Museum of Chung Ying Street is responsible for the protection，collection and research of historical relics in Chung Ying Street, categorized as a national third-level museum. The standing exhibition “100 Years of Chung Ying Street” in the Museum attracts about 400,000 visitors every year. Though the use of its unique geographical location, the Museum actively carries out patriotic and revolutionary heritance education, and it has now become a patriotic education base in Guangdong Province and Shenzhen City. Every year, it will carry out “March 18 Warning Day Activity of Chung Ying Street” and “Cultural Experience Camp Series Activities of Chung Ying Street” .

ZhiZheng Art Museum’s new hall and the China Resources art gallery 中国华润大厦艺术中心美术馆暨至正艺术博物馆新馆
A new cultural landmark in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area covering an area of 2,500 square meters, the new hall was jointly developed by ZhiZheng Wenbo Group and China Resources.
The cooperation is a move in response to the city’s focus on cultural development.

Shenzhen (Bao'an) Labor Museum 深圳（宝安）劳务工博物馆
With a total building area of over 5,231 square meters, Shenzhen (Bao'an) Labor Museum is the first museum focusing on the theme of labor workers' history in China. It is established on the former site of “Shangwu Yigao Electrical Plant” , the first plant that adopted the mode of “processing with supplied materials or samples, assembly with provided parts and compensation trade” in Shenzhen, which is also a witness for the history of labor workers' production and life for 40 years of reform and opening up of Shenzhen.

Longgang Museum of Hakka Culture 龙岗客家民俗博物馆
Longgang Museum of Hakka Culture is located at Luoruihe Resident's Committee, Nanlian Community, Longgang Sub-District, Longgang District. Based on one of largest Hakka Dwellings - Hehu New Residence (Hakka Village), this museum has been established to discover, protect, rescue and display Hakka history and folklore. It is proactively engaged in the transmission, exchange and research of Hakka culture, with the focus on the exhibition of the rich historical context and cultural resource of Longgang. The title of “nine courtyards, eighteen wells, ten lofts and horse-walking corridors” granted to the New Residence is a historical witness of the Hakka people developing the east of Shenzhen and provides important evidence for the study of Shenzhen's history, culture, folklore and architecture.

Memorial Hall of East River Column 东江纵队纪念馆
Memorial Hall of East River Column is located on the Dongzong Road of Pingshan District. This is the hometown of Commander Zeng Sheng of East River Column and the place where East River Column was founded.It was completed in May 2000 and officially opened on December 2 of the same year. The Memorial Hall covers an area of about 5,000 sqaure meters, and the building area of the exhibition hall is 1,500 square meters. It is the base of four provincial education programs. China Printmaking Museum 中国版画博物馆
China Printmaking Museum, as an important part of the academic program and the overall planning and construction of Guanlan International Printmaking Base, promotes and ensures the academic development of Guanlan Original Printmaking Base. It is a special print art museum, and will strive to become the printmaking academic center of China and even the world. China Printmaking Museum covers an area of 17,600 square meters, and a total building area of 18,600 square meters. The museum is divided into Zone A and Zone B, with Zone A comprising the exhibition hall, gallery, artistic book bar, handicraft studio, multipurpose lecture hall and research center and Zone B comprising offices, International Exchange Department, Exhibition Department, Collection and Research Department, Public Education and Promotion Department and General Department.

Dapeng Ancient City Museum 大鹏所城博物馆
Founded in 1996, Dapeng Ancient City Museum is a national key cultural relics protection unit. The Dapeng Ancient City Museum relies on the national key cultural relics protection unit Dapeng City and its cultural relics as a display exhibition to showcase the residential buildings in Lingnan in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The full name of Dapeng City is “Dapeng Shouyu thousand households in the city” . Founded in the 27th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1394 A.D.), Dapeng city played an important role in the struggle against Portuguese, Japanese and British colonialists in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. It is an important coastal defense military fortress in Lingnan. Shenzhen is also known as “Pengcheng”, which is derived from this. In December 2005, the Dapeng Ancient City Museum was announced as the patriotic education base in Guangdong Province. In 2009, the Dapeng Ancient City Museum was awarded the “National Level 3 Museum” by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage.

Shekou Maritime Museum 蛇口海洋博物馆
Shekou Maritime Museum opened to the public for free last week. The museum, which covers an area of 800 square meters, has 1,000 specimens exhibited in six categories and serves as the city’s comprehensive maritime education base.
Highlighted specimens include Chinese white dolphins and rare sea snails, such as tribacna, cassis cornuta, charonia tritonis, cypraecassis rufa and nautiloids.
Visitors can experience the undersea world with the museum’s complete array of audio, video and VR technologies and learn about the development of Shekou from a fishing village to a thriving port, over the past decades.
