Colombo, located on the southwest coast of the island and adjacent to the Indian Ocean, is the capital and largest city of Sri Lanka with a population of about 700,000. It is the political, economic, cultural center of the island and a popular tourist destination. Colombo is a busy and vibrant place with a mixture of modern life and colonial buildings and ruins. It became a friendship city of Shenzhen on November 17, 2014.
