2.8t yuan to be invested in 536 major projects

Shenzhen has unveiled a plan of 536 key projects with a total investment of more than 2.8 trillion yuan (US$438 billion) for this year, Shenzhen Economic Daily reported Saturday, quoting sources from the city’s development and reform commission.


The projects are set to cover areas such as transportation, energy, industry, education, health care, urban rejuvenation, cultural facilities and headquarter bases.


Of the 536 projects, the transportation ones take up quite a share, involving more than 30 projects undertaken by Shenzhen Metro Group, like Phase II of Line 7, the Chegongmiao Transport Hub, the Qianhai Transport Hub and the intercity rails.


The projects related to improvement of residents’ wellbeing include construction of the high school park in Pingshan, Shenzhen Music Conservatory and Shenzhen No. 3 Children’s Hospital. The major culture and sports projects, like Shenzhen Opera House and Xiaomeisha Ocean World, were also listed.


In the first four months of this year, the city’s investments in infrastructures, health and education increased by 36 percent, 36.5 percent and 73.8 percent, respectively, year on year, statistics from the city’s statistics bureau showed.
