Positive growth recorded for first time in April

The added value of enterprises above designated level increased by 2.8 percent year on year in April, marking the first time positive growth was recorded since work restarted in the city, the Shenzhen Municipal Industry and Information Technology Bureau said at a news conference Friday.


From January to April, the business revenue of software and Internet industry increased by 7.6 percent year on year. In April, its business revenue increased by 22.9 percent compared to the same period last year.


The added value of advanced manufacturing in April took up 72.2 percent of that of enterprises above designated level, Jiang Xingdong, director of the bureau, said. The added value of the medical equipment and devices sector increased by 20.6 percent between January and April over the same period last year.


Meanwhile, Shenzhen will construct 17,000 new 5G base stations by the end of August, which will bring the total number of 5G base stations in Shenzhen to 45,000, Jiang said.


After the additional base stations are built, Shenzhen will take the lead in China in providing full 5G coverage on an independent network, Jiang said.
