Guang'an City in Sichuan Province inked 48 deals involving 17.3 billion yuan (US$2.58 billion) at a business promotion and investment invitation meeting that ended Friday.

The two-day event attracted more than 200 guests from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The projects signed cover the equipment manufacturing, electronic information and biopharmacy sectors.
Li Jianqin, Guang’an Party chief, said at the signing ceremony that Guang’an is pushing forward high-quality development by leveraging its historical advantage as the hometown of late Chinese leader Deng Xiao-ping and geographic advantage of being adjacent to Chongqing. It is expediting the construction of a demonstration zone of Sichuan-Chongqing Cooperation Zone, a demonstration zone of a modern agricultural system, a national ecological demonstration zone of Jiangling River and a demonstration zone of red tourism.
The city’s pillar industries are the equipment manufacturing, electronic information, energy and chemical industries, which are surrounded by the four competitive industries, namely biopharmacy, food and beverages, advanced materials, and textiles and garments.
In partnership with Shenzhen, Guang’an (Shenzhen) Industrial Park has been put into operation after nearly three years of construction. Amer and BYD have set up businesses in Guang’an.
