A delegation of 40 companies from Germany’s Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt regions wrapped up their visit to Shenzhen on Friday after delving into the city’s business landscape, technological achievements, and exploring potential partnerships with local enterprises.

The visit was organized by the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT-Shenzhen) in collaboration with the German Chamber of Commerce in China. The group’s itinerary featured visits to prominent Shenzhen-based companies such as BYD, Han’s Laser, Huawei, and China Merchants Shekou.

The visiting German companies specialize in a range of sectors, including optics, machining, photovoltaic energy, and environmental protection. The group has conducted two visits to Shenzhen — one on Sept. 4 and the other on Thursday and Friday.

According to Martin Klose, executive director and board member of the German Chamber of Commerce in China — South & Southwest China, Shenzhen is a dynamic city that thrives on technological innovation. “The unique relationship between the entrepreneurial scene and manufacturing in Shenzhen attracts many German companies. The city’s ability to develop products and prototypes in a short span of time is a major draw for them.”

In Klose’s view, German and Shenzhen-based companies can expand their cooperation across various domains and German companies can play a pivotal role in supporting Shenzhen’s progress in green production.

The activity is one of the “Multinationals’ Trips in Shenzhen” series organized by the CCPIT-Shenzhen, aiming at serving local enterprises and expanding their global links. To date, the series has facilitated visits from approximately 150 enterprises from Germany, France, Russia and other countries in the fields of biomedicine, finance and automotive manufacturing, among others.
