The stores and eateries at Futian Checkpoint have seen rising business revenues since the checkpoint reopened Sunday.

On the first day after the borders reopened, a Hong Kong-style restaurant opposite the Futian Checkpoint building was almost fully packed with diners at around 2 p.m.

“Sales have tripled compared with the day before the checkpoint’s reopening,” Huang Jieting, boss of the eatery, said during an interview.

Huang anticipated her business would rebound a week before the checkpoint’s reopening and was even too excited to sleep the night before.

“We have been struggling over the last three years,” Huang added. “The worst has passed, and I believe our business will reach pre-pandemic levels.”

Stalls of logistics companies ZTO Express and SF Express along Yuheng Road in front of Futian Checkpoint were crowded with customers sending parcels and mails. ZTO opened a new stall near its existing one on the day the checkpoint reopened Sunday.

For inbound travelers commuting between checkpoints and the Luohu business circle, Shenzhen Bus Group has opened routes linking Wenjindu and Futian checkpoints with the Luohu business circle.
