Futian District held a promotion conference Saturday to bring in investment and talents, attracting over 4.1 million internet users to watch the event and its relevant topics garnered 125 million views online, DT News reported.

During the conference, Futian announced that 62 projects have been signed this year, introducing a total investment of 120.5 billion yuan (US$ 16.75 billion) to the district.

Futian is stepping up the development of a modern economic system, with its GDP set to reach 660 billion yuan in 2025 and per capita GDP exceeding 400,000 yuan.

As Shenzhen’s central district, Futian is home to the city’s administration, culture, finance, commerce and international exchange, as well as a core area for headquarters business and a cluster for the modern service industry.

Futian’s key sectors are finance, science and innovation, and fashion, which have kept improving over the past few years. As of this June, the district had gathered over 260 licensed financial institutions, accounting for 70% of the city’s total.

The district will focus on building three new “growth powerhouses” in Hetao, Xiangmihu and the area around Shenzhen Central Park.

The district will provide five buildings with a total floor area of 400,000 square meters for science and innovation and subsidize companies settling down in the buildings with up to 8 million yuan in rent support each year. Meanwhile, the first batch of six research projects on AI, medical technology and new materials were announced at the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone to seek research teams globally, with each project eligible for a subsidy of up to 20 million yuan.

The district also rolled out 42 ecological projects to renovate and expand the ecological spaces by at least 400,000 square meters. It will build leisurely walkways totaling roughly 20 kilometers to connect the 13 parks in the district.
