Light show


A light show in the Mission Hills Terra Art Ecological Park promises to captivate visitors with stunning installations, music and games. Don’t miss your chance to play a “piano” with your feet in the park. It is guaranteed to add minutes of fun and musical enjoyment to you since each key is lined with super bright LEDs that can be lit to any color when you step on it.

Children’s artworks


More than 200 paintings and installations created by students from 136 primary, middle and high schools in Shenzhen are on display. Most works reflect children’s imagination of the future world, such as a robotic beach cleaner, a flying schoolbag and traveling in the wormhole in space. Entry is free.

‘Art-Toy’


Groundwork, an architecture studio based in Hong Kong, has built a soft space “Art-Toy” for visitors at all ages to play in. It consists of three inflatable pieces: “A Fairyland of Naughty Kids,” “A Naughty Hill” and “Xiao Xin the Fish.” In this place of art and architecture, visitors can bounce, slide, prank each other and relax. Children who visit it today can enter a lucky draw and the prize will be a T-shirt or a ticket to “Art-Toy.”

Bologna illustrations


“Bologna Illustrators Exhibition China Tour and Scarry’s 100th Birthday Exhibition” features 387 illustrations created by 81 international illustrators and original drafts by U.S. children’s author and illustrator Richard McClure Scarry.


The Bologna Children’s Book Fair, launched in 1963 in Italy, is the world’s leading professional event dedicated to the children’s publishing industry. In recent years, selected award-winning illustrations have been on display around the world.


Scarry (1919-1994), who published over 300 books with total sales of over 100 million worldwide, delighted in telling funny stories, and even wrote several very clever detective stories. He is also well-known for his educational books which help teach children words and spelling, how to count, and to always have nice manners.

MixC Shenzhen Bay


Many children’s books are 25 percent off at the Yan Bookstore (前檐书店) on the third floor of MixC Shenzhen Bay today. Until June 7, adults, who buy two single tickets (108 yuan each) or one ticket for two persons (208 yuan) or one ticket for three persons (298 yuan) at the “Along the River During the Qingming Festival” exhibition on B1 level of MixC Shenzhen Bay, can bring a child younger than 16 years or shorter than 1.4 meters free of charge.


Children can also have a free virtual reality (VR) experience at the exhibition today. The exhibition, running until June 28, features the 7.98-meter-long painting “Along the River During the Qingming Festival” by Ming artist Qiu Ying (1494-1552), which was based on his impression of Song artist Zhang Zeduan’s painting of the same title. Interactive screens, VR games and immersive scenes are set up to help visitors understand the painting.
