Happy Life Festival hits OCT Harbor | Dec. 20 - 22

This weekend, lectures on life, design and art by international experts will be held at Happy Life Festival at OCT Harbor. Visitors can sign up on OCT Harbor’s WeChat “OCTharbour” to attend the lectures. Meanwhile, a book fair, live shows, design products by influencers and young designers will also be featured throughout the weekend.

Oriental Aesthetics 东方美学

Oracle Creative Design founder Liu Wen and Taiwan Yuan Care founder Jiang Rongyuan will talk about Oriental aesthetics and the commercialization of design.

The History of Homegrown Brands 国潮断代史

The past 10 years have witnessed a renewed interest in decades-old Chinese homegrown brands by the younger generations, such as White Rabbit candy and Pechoin skincare products. These old Chinese brands are reinventing themselves with crossover and ancillary products to entice a new breed of millennial shoppers. Singer and artist Peng Lei and branding expert Niu Wenyi will talk about this vintage fever in the new era.

Creativity Forum 创造力论坛

Shenzhen illustrator Dick Ng and B10 Live planner Tu Fei will discuss how to be creative in an ever-changing world.

The Imagination of the Nature 自然的想象

French photographer Jonathan Jimenez, better known as Jonk, will talk with scientist Hou Xu, artist Xu Tan and book designer Zhu Yingchun on nature. Jonk is renowned for his book “Naturalia,” a curated collection of images showcasing urban ruins reclaimed by nature.

Man-made Heterotopia 人造异托邦

Visual anthropology expert Chen Xiaoyang, artist He Junyan, artist duo Something & Son, and artist Qin Ga will discuss whether heterotopia exists in the online virtual world or reality. Something & Son (Andy Merritt and Paul Smyth) from Britain explores social and environmental issues via everyday scenarios criss-crossing the boundaries between the visual arts, architecture and activism.

Mind Landscapes 思维的景观

Chinese avant-garde artists Chen Pai’an and Li Binyuan and Dutch industrial designers Jurgen Bey and Neville Mars will have a dialogue on artistic creation and design.

A Maze of Technology 科技之局

Chinese philosophy professor Lu Xinghua, British designer Jon C. Flint, Dutch artist couple Karen Lancel and Hermen Maat, and Dutch artist and designer Xandra van der Eijk will trigger thoughts on the relationship between human society and scientific development.
