London-based Turkish fashion designer Bora Aksu, Chinese curator He Yining and Susan Jenkyn-Jones, senior academic director of design and professor of fashion education at Condé Nast China, will give a talk titled “Is Fashion Art” at Bay Talk, an idea-sharing event.

Aksu set up his fashion label upon graduating with an MA from Central Saint Martins. Awarded a New Generation scholarship, he catapulted straight onto the London Fashion Week scene and has showcased his collections for eight years. His collection is stocked at Selfridges, Wolf & Badger and Liberty & Co. in London, and across the world. He has also prepared seven window displays at Selfridges and is a four-time Newgen recipient.

Chinese curator He is a graduate of the London College of Communication with an MA in photojournalism and documentary photography. She works closely with museums, galleries and other institutions in China and across Europe. Her current research focuses on the cultural identity and photographic representation of England, contemporary Chinese landscape photography and contemporary photography publishing in China. Since 2010, she has been a regular contributor to many art and photography publications, including Chinese Photography, Modern Weekly, Rayarts Center, Art World and ArtForum China.

She initiated the Go East Project (www.goeastblog.com) in 2014, which aims to introduce contemporary Chinese photography to the West, support young talents in establishing local photography platforms with an international scope and exploring the infinite possibilities of photography. She also has worked with Brownie Art Photography as an art consultant since 2016.

Jenkyn-Jones works flexibly in both higher education and industry as a visionary team leader and designer of fashion, life-style events and experiences, and entrepreneurial programs. She has developed numerous BA and master’s level curricula, and short business training programs, on a variety of fashion, marketing and cultural subjects.

Bay Talk is an idea-sharing event where unprecedented and inspiring concepts can be conveyed through stories.
