British musical couple to grace Longgang | Nov. 9

British duo Double Exposure, consisting of musicians Thomas Bowes and Eleanor Alberga, will present Bartok’s “Rhapsody No. 2,” Bach’s “Chaconne,” Franck’s “Sonata in A Major,” Ravel’s “Tzigane,” some Chinese folk songs and “Oh Chaconne” composed by Alberga.

Violinist Bowes played with the London Philharmonic beginning in 1985 and the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields beginning in 1986. He was a founding member of the Maggini String Quartet and served as leader from 1988 to 1992. In 1989 he began serving as leader of the London Mozart Players, where he led the ensemble at their BBC Proms debut in 1991. Bowes has served as guest leader of orchestras including the London Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and London Sinfonietta.

Bowes married pianist and composer Alberga in 1992 and they formed the duo Double Exposure in 1995.

Alberga was born in Jamaica and studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London. After completing her studies, she performed as a concert pianist. Now she works as a guest lecturer at the Royal Academy of Music. She has been pianist and music director for the London Contemporary Dance Theater.
