Chinese classical guitarist Yang Xuefei will collaborate with violinist Huang Mengla to present tango pieces by Astor Piazzolla and Isaac Albéniz, Spanish dance pieces by Manuel de Falla and Enrique Granados, as well as the second movement of Niccolò Paganini’s “Grand Sonata for Guitar and Violin in A Major.”

Yang is a graduate of the Central Conservatoire of Music in Beijing and went on to become the first Chinese musician to receive a full scholarship for postgraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she received the Principal’s Prize upon completion of her postgraduate study.
Gramophone magazine praised her as one of the leading innovators of her generation for continuing to build the guitar repertoire. She is committed to commissioning new works and making her own arrangements, with a particular interest in adding Chinese music and chamber music, many of which have appeared on her recordings. She has received new works from composers such as Chen Yi, Stephen Goss, Timothy Salter and Carlo Domeniconi.
Violinist Huang is also a graduate from the Royal Academy of Music. He is one of the most active and promising young violinists of our time. His brilliant technique and unique interpretations have fascinated audiences throughout Asia, Europe and North America. In 2002, he won the first prize at the prestigious Paganini International Violin Competition in Italy, where he also received the Renato de Barbieri Memorial Award for the best interpretation of Paganini’s “Caprices for Solo Violin” and the Mario Ruminelli Memorial Award.
